Yoga – A New Way of life

naturopathgoldcoast-1-2

Yoga is a method of discipline which started in ancientIndiaabout 3000 years ago.  A person practices yoga for physical, mental, and physical benefits. A male who practices yoga is called a “yogi” and a female yoga practitioner is called “yogini”.  The meaning of the Sanskrit (ancient Indian language) word yoga is “union”, a union of the physical and the spiritual. Through yoga, a being connects himself with God; thus he becomes capable of balancing his mind, soul, and emotions to connect with the Supreme Being and achieve enlightenment.

The term yoga also means “harnessing”, harnessing the lesser powers of your being and applying it in a loftier manner. Practicing yoga has many spiritual and physical benefits. The first and the foremost benefit of yoga is that it calms your mind so that you can have a clear thought process. Practicing yoga helps you to handle stress in a better way.  Yoga helps you to maintain a good temperament in your relationship with the people you are connected to.

The health benefits of yoga are never overlooked.  Through yoga you will improve your fitness and physical strength. You will become more flexible, chances of muscle or organ atrophy are very unlikely. Your cardiovascular strength will be increased, making you less prone to heart diseases. Regular practice of yoga flushes out all the toxic wastes from your system, and helps maintain the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal system, and get rid of problems like backache, arthritis, and asthma.

To enjoy the complete benefits of yoga there are certain things which are to be kept in mind. The first thing to remember is that yoga is not just another exercise regime by which we can reduce our fat.  Yoga is a lifestyle which can positively affect your being and can mend your character.  Another fact is that there are different kinds of yoga practices and we often get confused about which one to start with.

Some forms of yoga are

Hatha yoga – This is a slow-paced form of yoga which is best for someone who is new to this. The body movements are slow and asanas (postures) are simpler. This yoga aims at uniting the mind, body, and spirit.

Ashtanga yoga – This form of yoga is more physically demanding. You move from one pose to another with fast body movements. Ashtanga in Sanskrit means “eight limbs”. This fast moving and progressive sets of poses increases your stamina, flexibility, and strength.

Iyengar yoga – This form of yoga practice is done based on the guidelines outlined by B.K.S Iyengar , and it focuses on holding a posture for a longer period of time than other forms. Iyengar yoga helps you to increase your body balance and endurance.

Bikram yoga – The yoga is practiced in heated room so that people sweats a lot during the class and it helps in loosening the muscles and detoxifying the body of its toxins.

There are many institutions out there providing yoga instructions. Have a discussion with the instructor about their beliefs and ideas of yoga, prior to getting enrolled.  This will help you to choose a better form of yoga suitable for you.

Yoga is considered as an art that provide benefits and strength to our body, inner spirit and mind. It is an ancient practice which was originated inIndiaabout thousands of years ago. The Puranas and Upanishads written by Aryans during post- Vedic and late-Vedic periods have references about yoga. A systematic written approach about yoga was found in yoga sutra written by Patanjali. It was written about two thousand years ago. This book clearly depicts the principles of the yogic discipline. This text is considered as the important one regarding the yoga and it spreads the importance of yoga around the world.

Yoga is considered as a spiritual and physical exercise. Through yoga we can attain enlightenment and physical and mental refreshment. Yoga is basically categorized into four different groups. They are Raja yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga and Jnana yoga. Yoga is considered as an important part in some religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Contemporary yoga consists of a large number of principles and most of these principles are taken from these religions. Hinduism believers consider yoga as a method of getting closer to almighty. For Buddhists it is believed that yoga will help them to achieve a higher grade of wisdom.

Eight stages of yogic disciplines are illustrated by Patanjali. They are Yamas, Niyamas, Asanas, Pranayama, Partyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadi. Yamas deals with abstentions and restrains. Niyamas deals with surrendering the ego, purity, contentment and study. Asanas is related to exercises or physical postures, Pranayama to breathing control, Partyahara to withdrawal of senses and Dharana to concentration of mind. Dhyana means meditation and it will provide a relaxed mind which is free from external interferences. Finally Samadhi means an attainment of a super conscious state. For some yoga practitioners the ultimate goal is to attain Samadhi. It is considered as complicated mental state. In this state a person can achieve ecstasy.

The main goal of yoga is to attain physical and mental fitness. Thorough yoga it is able to relax our mind and body. It will enhance our physical and mental functions. People in western region considered yoga as a method of self-improvement and refreshment. Yoga will help us to achieve full control over our mind and body. Yoga will keep our body strong and healthy. MEDITATION BEATS HOLIDAY STRESS

yoga123

Here are basic meditation tips to help you relax: Pick a word, short phrase or prayer that is firmly rooted in your belief system that will help you focus. Try words like “peace,” “one” or a religious word or phrase. Sit quietly in a comfortable position. Some prefer yoga positions as practiced in the East. Others prefer a more Western stance: Sit in a chair where your spine is straight and your feet are comfortably flat on the floor. Hands should face upward on your lap. Close or lower your eyes. Breathe slowly. Exhale through your mouth and inhale through your nose. Other thoughts may cross your mind, but it doesn’t mean your session needs to end. Say to yourself “later” and return to your breathing and/or visualization.

Oh, cripes, the kids need to be picked up from soccer/basketball/French horn practice, and the post office closes at 5 p.m. Long lines at the store aren’t helping matters, and it’s going to take more than watered down eggnog to take the edge off. Maybe what you need is to just stop the world, have a comfortable seat and catch a few ohmms. That’s right. Want to feel better and maybe chase some of that negative inner dialogue away? Meditate. Two decades’ worth of research suggests meditating — be it visualization, prayer or shutting yourself off from your surroundings — can significantly reduce stress levels.

A busy lifestyle is no excuse. In fact, meditators say that’s why you need to do it. “If you take the time to meditate, you actually create more time in your life,” says Cheri Eplett owner of Indialantic’s Aquarian Dreams, which specializes in books and CDs about meditation. “You are more efficient because you’re less stressed. So meditation is a good investment of time.” Perhaps the biggest meditation motivator lies in a recent, small scientific study that suggests locating the ohhhm can make you live longer.

Last month, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital released a study showing areas of the cerebral cortex — the outer layer of the brain — were thicker in the participants who regularly meditated. The study, which appeared in a recent article in NeuroReport,
described results from 20 people who meditated regularly. These people had four regions of cortex — the part of the brain,
associated with higher functions like memory and decision making — that were thicker than in 15 subjects who didn’t meditate. In addition, researchers found signs that one area of the cortex seemed to have aged less quickly than it did in the folks who didn’t
meditate. Researchers are doing follow-up studies to see how meditation might effect behavior. Dr.Wasim Niazi, a neurologist at Wuesthoff Rockledge, says more research needs to be done to confirm meditation’s anatomical changes on the brain.

But he does agree mediation results in relaxation, which has been proven to reduce stress and help people focus better during their
waking hours — and sleep better at night. “But all modalities of meditation have something in common in that they are about disconnecting yourself from the impulses you are receiving — the noise and the worries,” Niazi says. “Consider that 100 impulses reach the brain every per second and most are subconscious.” Al Rapaport, founder of Melbourne’s Open Mind Zen Center says it’s
such impulses that “make us subject to a monkey mind,” he says. “Meditation helps us slow down that internal dialogue.”

But meditation practitioners say studies only reinforce what they already know. “We’ve known for nearly 20 years that meditation effects the physiology of brain chemistry and this (Massachusetts study) is the first one I’ve seen in which meditation directly effects the brain,” says Rapaport, who also is author of the book “Open Mind Zen: A Guide to Meditation.” “But for meditators, the laboratory is our own body and mind. We get the results through our experiences.” The Zen center specializes in group meditation, but Rapaport
encourages people to meditate at home as well. “All the techniques are designed to help focus the mind,” Rapaport says.

Eplet prefers to use visualization techniques and sit in a comfortable position, feet flat on the floor, her palms upward in a receiving position. Others prefer to focus on breathing. The goal is to practice daily — but don’t worry about being perfect at it.

“A lot of people don’t meditate because they are under the impression they must clear their mind and think of nothing for 20 minutes,” says Andrea de Michaelis, who publishes the Brevard County-based Horizons. She meditates twice a day. And she gets better at it each time, she says. “When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is make myself sit when my mind is still in that foggy place,” de Michaelis says. “Once I start the process with the breathing, the cobwebs start to clear. If a concrete thought or worry crosses my mind I can release the thought by saying the word ‘later,’ which satisfies the concrete mind that wants to hang on to something.

Don’t worry if you can’t schedule a 10 or 20 minute stop-action timeframe. “Meditating for three minutes is better than nothing,” she says. “For people with kids, it can be a matter of locking yourself in the bathroom and take a bath — and hope you won’t be interrupted more than 30 times.”

Mysticism – Gaining Power – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“Approach each task in your life, no matter how simple or how complex, with power. Personal power is really the issue. It is only through tremendous attention to detail that you will be able to gain personal power and searing self-honesty. Happy people, enlightened people, successful people all share something in common. They have learned how to manage and increase their energy. You can simulate perfection, but it’s not the same. Some one can do a copy of Rembrandt, but it’s not a Rembrandt. It doesn’t have the vibration or the power. If you want to succeed always associate with winners, people who have understood something. You will notice that they all share something in common, tremendous attention to detail in their personal lives and associations. Power has destroyed many people – not really. Power doesn’t destroy anyone. People apply it poorly and it can ruin their lives. Power is like fire. Fire is neither good nor bad. It’s how you use it.

There are two sides to increasing energy. One is avoiding loss. The other is learning how to gain energy. Meditate on your own and refine your consciousness. Tighten up your life. Constantly examine your life and look for weak points. You know what’s going on in your life. You can draw power from everything in your life. In order to do that, everything has to be set up in a proper way. Turn your life into a field of power and energy to draw from. Take your energy – instead of losing it in all the little hassles and all the little battles you could have fought with opponents who didn’t matter. You must have tremendous power of focus to direct your life and not allow all these variant forces, different vibrations, to enter you.

You have got to get your power up and do something and not just sit around. You need to constantly examine your life, inner and outer, to see where you are losing and gaining power. There are two sides to increasing energy. One is avoiding loss. The other is learning how to gain energy. Things that raise your energy usually don’t involve humans; things that cause energy loss usually involve humans. Think of your life as a field. The field is the field of action. What a mystic does is set up their life as a field of power.

Your life either takes your energy or gives you energy. Set up your life so that it gives you energy. Avoid the things in your life that take away from your stillness. Find things that add to that stillness. Bring them more into your life. It doesn’t matter what works or doesn’t. It is all individual. It is necessary to do a very thorough examination of your life and to discover whether the people in your life, no matter how much you love them, are using you or abusing you. Make lists. Write down the things that give you power. Write down the things that take your power away also. Make lists of people close to you. Are you associations raising you to a higher level of attention?

Take out two pieces of paper. One piece of paper, list all the people you know who are adding to your life. Then on the other piece of paper, list all the people you know who are taking more than they’re adding. Include people from the past. It is necessary to bring our life in order, to examine each thing, and ask ourselves if it is bringing power into our life or if it is draining us. Ask yourself, is your life taking power from you or adding power to you? What will increase one person’s personal power will not necessarily be the same for another. Energy is gained by giving energy. When we give energy, we gain energy. This is different than having someone manipulate you and take your energy.

There is an art, a science to gaining power. There is a natural force or inclination in all of our beings to accumulate power. The problem that we come into is conditioning. When we experience fear, it cuts us off from our power. It cuts us off from knowledge and experience. It is a guillotine that falls and separates. Fears are just conditioning. They don’t exist. They are something that we are taught by people who are afraid or seek to make us afraid. It is time to unload the baggage. Step one in overcoming fears is to make a fear list. Make a list of all the things that you are afraid of.  Start out with the small fears and conquer them.

Overcoming fear has nothing to do with abandoning common sense. We retain our common sense, but we lose that emotion that is fear. How to overcome fear? Be around people who are fearless. If you are afraid of other people take a martial arts class. The best way to overcome fear is learn to be proficient in martial arts. Go out and do the things you are afraid to do gradually. Gain the power to do that through meditating. You will find yourself limitless reality that knows no fear.

Be a perpetual beginner. Always be inspired. It is that attitude of inspiration and belief that creates energy. If you are happier than you have ever been, then your power is increasing. But is it a fast a rate of climb as you would like? You will gain energy by meditating deeply, by speaking the truth, by learning to be still and by avoiding the crowd, most of the time, not all of the time. It is really important that you live in a place that has good energy. Where you sleep, where you dream, where you meditate, where you spend a lot of time is key.

You need to turn your room into a place of power. It’s a good idea to have flowers around, candles, incense, you know, happy things. Make your room into a beautiful place and keep it impeccably clean. The place that you gain the most power is within your own mind. Stopping thought generates power. That is why people meditate. The longer you can stop thought, the more power you gain If you are finding that you can stop thought longer and longer, I would say your life is bringing power into your being. You are gaining things out from that field behind the house. You gain power through practicing meditation and concentration. You gain power by doing anything you like that makes you feel good. You gain power by being happy. A person who seeks power usually goes into other dimensional planes to find it. Then they bring that power back into this world and they use it to enhance their life.

Your understanding of the astral dimensions can help you alter structures in the physical dimensions.  It is in and through the medium of the astral dimensions that all of the siddha powers function and work. Meditation will bring back the powers and awareness from the past; more importantly, it will expand your consciousness today. What you need to learn are basic types of concentration, bringing more energy into your life, plugging up the holes where you lose energy, the basics of self-discovery.

The way we measure awareness is by how long you can stop thought. If you can’t stop thought at all, then you are not powerful. You might be quite evolved, but you have no access to that evolution. The unlocking of the kundalini, which occurs by meditating on the first, second and third chakras, is the entrance into the planes of power. There can be very powerful releases of energy that can catch you off guard until you have a better sense of what you are doing. I would recommend, initially, if you are trying to increase your personal power level, to meditate on the navel center, not the lower two. Power comes from the navel center. If you meditate for an hour or so a day and you focus on that sphere, you will release a tremendous power that will enter your body. We call it the chi.

Personal power is the reflection of a person of knowledge. A person of knowledge, an enlightened person, a person even close to enlightenment, has a great deal of personal power. The reason you study with a teacher is primarily for the empowerments, for someone who is enlightened to transfer power to you. What is most important is that the student uses that power intelligently and wisely An enlightened teacher teaches you how to gain power. They give you power. They teach you how to shape it so that it becomes an instrument of beauty and not an instrument of unhappiness. A teacher will alter the balance of power by actually lifting a person into other states of mind. In those states of mind the teaching will take place in non-verbal ways through direct experience. If the teacher sees that it will cause a person to progress, he will ask that person to do a task. The task is charged with power and if it’s performed properly.

A good teacher will show you the ropes in the world of power. They will give you the wisdom that is necessary to be able to use power. You just don’t give a kid a new Ferrari. You teach him how to drive it. Naturally you need someone who is versed in the ways of power to teach you a thing or two about it. When you reach the next power level, they will teach you more. It is very much like the study of martial arts. Enter into the plane of mental development. Start to increase your personal power level. Your life will become quite wonderful and very happy. You move beyond delusion.”

Mysticism – Losing Power – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“You are drained by foolish actions and others. When you allow desire, anger and frustration to dominate you, you are losing power. If your power level gets low enough, you will die. You will get in a car accident; you will pick up a disease. That is why it is very important to keep your power level high, just to be a happy human being. Life wears us down. We all die here. Depending upon the way you expose yourself to energies and powers and forces, both physical and non-physical, will determine whether you have a lot of energy or you lose energy.

Learn that happiness comes through self-control and not being angry or jealous. The only one that you really torment is yourself. It is easier to let go and gain new ways of looking at life. Everything starts within your own mind. The physical choices you make, drain your power or give you power. If your power is low, then you stay in lower levels of mind and you don’t see opportunities. When you deal with people, it tends to drag your energy down, if those people are in a lower auric state than you. If you meditate and they don’t, then by the end of the day you tend to be more drained.

The real problem is not increasing your energy. The problem is losing it. If you stop the loss and you simply meditate, you will have more than enough energy. You will learn to live strategically. Start to give more thought to the world around you. Stop exposing yourself to situations that drain your energy. You will discover through a trial and error process that you will have more energy. Watch out for dark streets in big cities because there are a lot of strange beings that hang out there at night, let alone the people. Don’t you remember anything from your other lives?

Most power is lost in one’s own mind by thinking negative thoughts, by worrying about the future, by focusing on the past, as opposed to thinking positive, strong, and happy thoughts. If you lead a sloppy life, if you indulge in your emotions, if you’re always upset, freaked out, stressful, and not happy, you are wasting power and your power level will get very low. Your life may be draining away. Every day you may be getting older instead of younger, more frustrated instead of happier. Your job, your relationships may not be evolving – then your power is dwindling.

You have to be careful that in giving energy, you do not allow yourself to be excessively drained or used. If you are a successful person and you let a lot of people in and around your life, they can drain your power. It won’t go to them, but it will leave you. In the world of power, people will come looking for you. If you’re a movie star, you know what I am saying. People will come around you, little groupie types. They think that being around you they can get something. The biggest energy losses for most people are relationships, interrelations with other people. That is where we lose the most energy, through our attachments – opening up to people who might be very nice on the surface but underneath they have a lot of problems.

If you ever care about things, that means they have power over you. Power comes from doing meditation, leading a controlled life, being conservative, not wasting all your energy on drugs, alcohol and sex and other pastimes. The guideline for all experience is how you feel afterwards. Drinking alcohol takes you into a lower state of mind. If you drink a lot of it, things get very fuzzy and they are not very sharp or defined. That brings you into a lower state of attention. Some people are like psychic sponges, they drain power form others constantly. They lower your awareness because they are at a lower level. If you spend too much time with them, you get pulled down.

If you are losing power in your relationships, with others, then you have to try and remedy that, if you can’t, you need to sever the relationship. There is a certain drop of a type of kundalini when you have sex. If you are interested in developing some of the higher range occult powers, then I would suggest you not engage in sex too frequently. If you really want to channel all of your energy towards higher mysticism, you should realize that sex does drain a certain amount of your occult energy. Human beings are confused, deluded and generally un-awakened. So as a person who seeks to increase their energy, you have to be very careful about who you have intimate contact with.

The primary place where most people lose energy is in their relationships with others. That means you lose your energy in your interactions with the people you know best. People don’t necessarily take power from you for themselves. It just means they are operating at a lower attention level and you got pulled down by it. You are not sufficiently strong enough to be with someone and be unaffected. In most cases, energy is lost in little games of manipulation, in little struggles of will, in the attempts to possess others, to wrap them up, to delude them, to shine them on. If, at the office or in different exchanges in daily living, you have to spend time with people who are at lower power levels, then you have to be aware of that and keep your awareness very much within.

Don’t be afraid of losing a little power in daily associations. People who seek power and knowledge aren’t misers. They aren’t afraid. That is paranoid. When you are afraid of someone, they can gain power over you, meaning they can drop your energy level. When we experience fear, it cuts us off from our power. It cuts us off from knowledge and experience. It is a guillotine that falls and separates.

People are taught to fear god. They are taught to fear everything. It has become such a natural state that no one questions it. Step one in overcoming fears is to make a fear list. Make a list of all the things that you are afraid of. Start out with the small fears and conquer them. Fears are just conditioning. They don’t exist. They are something that we are taught by people who are afraid or seek to make us afraid. It is time to unload the baggage.

Laughing at fear is one of the best things you can do. When you are afraid, instead of just plunging into panic, laugh. The fear gets really uptight and leaves. Overcoming fear has nothing to do with abandoning common sense. We retain our common sense, but we lose that emotion that is fear. Don’t be afraid. You are as alive as anything else is alive. Your right to be alive is as great as the right of anything else. Fear is just an idea in the mind that limits you. You cannot become enlightened if you are afraid, nor can you become happy.

Pain and suffering only occur in temporal time. They don’t occur in the world of forever. They only occur in limited transient time, which is a state of mind.

A lot of energy is lost to false teachers. Wherever dependency is created, energy is lost. A lot of people who are involved in self-discovery lose energy to abusive teachers, to abusive friends and to entities, non-physical beings. A great deal of energy is lost in the study by people who interact with non-physical beings. They get into your mind and your body by approaching you in the dream plane, promising you powers, playing on your desires. They sap your life force If your power is decreasing then you have to do something about it right away. As your power level goes down, you will become physically ill. When our power level is down sufficiently, we die. You need to shelter yourself from the abrasive forces of life that drain you and keep you in a lower state of mind. Never be bored. Energy lives off of attention. When you are bored you get drained. The United States has an incredible debt. That is obviously not the way to live. You have to eliminate waste in your life as the United States has to eliminate waste in its spending. It takes many years to become proficient in energy conservation. But it is something that happens. You get continually stronger. You see your attention field is far different than it ever was before.”

Mysticism – Abusing Power – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

icon-yoga-classes

Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

We want to be all things, not just to gain power over things — how infantile! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you. When willpower is not guided, it’s terrible. Hitler had a lot of will. But he used it for destructive purposes because he lacked wisdom. Power, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. People want power but not wisdom. Power without wisdom is a very dangerous thing. Better to have wisdom first. Without wisdom, power tends to destroy the one who wields it.

Without wisdom, a powerful person does not become more powerful. Their power will turn back on them and eventually destroy them. So those who are truly wise become most powerful. Whatever you want you can get, when you understand the secret of will. But wisdom is needed so that you do not use your will abusively because you’ll get hurt. Say, for example, you develop the ability to make parking meters disappear. It’s probably easier to put a quarter in it. That would be the wisdom on the subject. If you use your will all the time, then it runs out. You deplete yourself and then, when you really need it, it’s not there.

If you try to pull too much power through too soon, you will injure yourself. Some come to a teacher for power. They still have all the desires, angers and jealousies of an unevolved person. Consequently, they become destructive both to themselves and to others. The big problem with power, of course, is obsession. Once you get some of it and feel it, it dominates your whole life and it’s all you can think about. That doesn’t have to happen. We must control the tendencies within our being that are destructive, when we want to slam somebody else, hurt them, injure them, or push them out of the way.

A reverence for life needs to be developed, in which all things are sacred. Someone who really wants to discover themselves has to be particularly careful about the use and abuse of power. But even your average human being just passing through another life has to be careful. A person who has power doesn’t seek to challenge others, their battles are within. Only the fool wants to go into battle to beat someone for the satisfaction of beating someone. When you abuse willpower you waste it. There really is not an infinite supply of it at your disposal. There is an infinite supply of it in the universe.

The person of power uses their power to open up their mind to higher levels all the time, which creates tremendous happiness. Power is something that is abused. I suppose use and abuse are in the eye of the beholder. There is a difference between willing and forcing. Willing something simply means you are not being lazy. Forcing something means you are trying to do something inappropriate or in an inappropriate way. I would define the proper use of power as something that creates happiness for yourself and others. The abuse of power takes happiness away. It is not necessary to wrap people up. The reason you’re doing it is because you don’t have enough power. If you had enough power, you could unlock your own personal power, you wouldn’t need to control others.

It takes a lot of energy to manipulate someone and keep them on a string. We see a lot of people who decide to go out and teach meditation. They become so wrapped up in it that they stop progressing themselves and they really don’t have that much more to teach. It is a tremendous waste of energy to try to block anyone else. That same energy could be applied to furthering your own success. When we use power to cause someone else not to succeed so that we can succeed, it slows our vibratory frequency. It slows us down. When we slow down we experience unhappiness. A student of mine is an actor, he used to go into these interviews and sometimes not get the part. He was “taken out”. Someone would use power in a way that would cause him not to succeed.

We learn to avoid blocking others, interfering with others, because that will decrease our happiness, slow our vibratory rate and generally bring us down and make us miserable. You have to look at your own thought forms. Are you sitting around and thinking a lot of negative thoughts? These injure the subtle body. When you hate, when you are angry, you bring that energy through you. When you become angry at someone, your anger will actually have a power. You can hit somebody in a non-physical way and it can injure that being. You must control your anger and jealousy and possessive nature or, as you become more powerful and your will increases in strength, you will injure others.

When you think an angry thought about someone, it’s like hitting them. If you hold a negative thought, then it will become more powerful and not only will it send bad energy to the person, but it will crash your consciousness. People who have power who think negatively of others and seek to injure them are practicing a kind of voodoo, a lower sorcery. Those who practice lower sorcery hurt themselves the most because they interact with negative thoughts and apply power to them; they devastate their own consciousness and their own lives. Deluded beings think that if they get in a battle with a Zen Master or with a Don Juan, that it’s going enhance their life if they win. You can never take power from someone else any more than you can take sunlight.

If you get in a battle with someone, you don’t get their power if you win. Power is something that you have to acquire yourself, through self-inquiry and the practice of meditation. The bully on the block who beats up somebody doesn’t become more powerful. All they do is walk around inside their own mind with an inflated ego. You have been imprinted by people in this world who take power from others. Most people drain each other. Or, what is worse, they are draining you right now, psychically! Most people abuse power. They use power to dominate others. They use power to destroy others. Ultimately when you do this, you lose it.

You can take power from others; you can steal it. It is not a very high-grade power. It will give you a certain amount of access to a better life; but it corrupts the individual. The person who takes power will never be happy with those things they gain. They have lost their essential balance and innocence. And without innocence, nothing can further, as they say in the I Ching. It is silly to drain others; for when you drain others, you also pick up their vibratory force. People who want to go to power places all of the time and want to be around powerful people, they don’t last long in the study.

When you do things in a selfish way, let alone a destructive way, your state of mind will go down. You will find yourself becoming depressed, nervous, anxious and upset. If you have gained some powers by your entrance into other dimensions and you use them to attack others, then power reverses on you and pulls you apart because it is not supposed to be used that way. I don’t put much stock in powers that people have to hurt others, in sorcery and all this nonsense. There are murderers and there are dictators. That is just a part of life. The intelligent use of power in yoga can assist you avoiding that side of humanity.

Angry people, unhappy people, people that seek to injure others, these people all have something in common. They waste energy. They don’t conserve it and they don’t know how to increase it. So the intelligent use of power is to never interfere with anyone else’s success. Use the power you get to just be more successful yourself. When you manipulate others your attention level drops and you become prey, for you have dropped to the plane of manipulation. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regard for the welfare of others, or when power is used to go into lower dimensions.

If you abuse power, you will be burned and then you will learn.if you live. Jealousy, anger, fear — these are ridiculous emotions that drain your power. You need to control them by being content, trusting that life knows what is best, accepting with an even mind whatever is presented to you. How do you overcome the negative karmas and problems and misery that occur to people who abuse power? You stop abusing power. The teacher has nothing to do with people who use their mental powers to block the enlightenment of others. These people lack control. What can you teach someone who lacks control?

Some people travel to other dimensions in their astral bodies when they meditate. Astral traveling doesn’t bring a person lasting happiness. If astral traveling is not done properly, it can be quite dangerous. Meditation is not this kind of spacey stuff that makes it difficult to orient your life. If that’s your experience of meditation, you’re not meditating. You’re tapping into the lower astral planes, which is not a healthy place for human beings to tap. There is a large difference between spacing out in the lower occult astral planes, weird, junky, fuzzy energy, and meditation. Meditation is sharp, clear, precise, perfect, luminous, shiny, happy, etheric, cosmic, and dissolute. The world is wonderful. It is beautiful when you are in a correct level of attention.

Earth-defying, therapeutic introspectors

TM is pure Tantra – the practicum of the Sri Vidya, Absolute Knowledge. The yoga was obtained from the Western Transmission of the Nath tradition. Tantricism, that is, Mantravada, with mantra, yantra, mandala, puja, and dakshina, is of Tibetan origin and the Tantras are books of mantras composed by siddhas. The siddha alchemist cult was, as per its own tradition, introduced by a Bonpo from Tibet, Shenrap, who came over from Derge.

In contrast, sudroid Shaivism is of Mediteranian and African origin – the old Sudric ‘Black’ Shiva is of Dravidia; his affinities to the
Bantu have been noted. Indeed, one may find Dravidian ‘tantrics’ among the untouched Dravidians living in remote areas – the Banas and Nagas. However, one should not use the word ‘Tantrism’ for this set of beliefs, since Tantra means the 5th Veda from Tibet. ‘Sudra Religion’ or ‘Sudra Shaivism’ are better terms. These are independant of Tibetan Tantricism even if the practices may have been similar, dating back to the pre-Aryan Indus Valley.

It is important to distinguish the White Tibetic Mahadeva, from the Black Old Dravidian Shiva; and the Roman Hermes, Greek Priapus and Nordic Odin; they have no relation. These are similar gods in different religions, but in common usage. In India, the word tantra refers to any non-Vedic practice.

There is a popular tradition that the siddhas were a ‘bloc of earth-defying, therapeutic introspectors’, indebted in all respects to
Bhoga, an immigrant from Odantapur, who, in his methods of ridding the body of impure matter through ‘reverberation’ techniques, came to the point of pracitcally cancelling ultimate demise. It may be true that Mahesh, who merely sought to promulgate the lesser
athanasic precepts of Guru Dev, since the vital objective of the Ghanderved is the transfiguration of the immortalised ethereal body
‘Soam’, into a permanent world body mandala, a new world order, in order to fit it to associate to eternity with the Purush, the
Transcendental Person.

Mysticism – Psychic Self-Defense – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“You never seem to hear about psychic occult attack in spiritual literature.  This knowledge has been conveniently forgotten. Innocence does not protect you from the evil designs of others. In addition to innocence, we have to have knowledge of good and evil.People have power and it is very important to respect that. Everybody’s had thousands of lifetimes, and who knows what anyone has learned in a lifetime. Respect not fear. In the universe, there is darkness and light. We call this duality. When you seek knowledge and power, there are forces and people that will oppose you.

Not everyone is your friend. When you are psychic you tend to forget that others don’t view life the way you do. Psychic beings are childlike, delicate and easily destroyed. To not realize that everyone we think about affects us psychically, to not realize that life is a field of power, is criminal, in my opinion. If you are a sensitive and evolved being, it is simply criminal. The souls now incarnating are power souls. It is a dark age. To incarnate now one needs psychic self-defense. We have developed psychic powers in other lives. Now we have many problems because of it, many voices in the mind due to this crowded earth.

When you become empowered everyone becomes interested in you. If you just develop your psychic ability and not learn psychic
self-defense, you become more sensitive, open, and vulnerable. Avoiding things that drain you is more important than gaining energy. While it is possible to create all your own energy, most people feed off the energy of others. If you could see on multiple planes of attention you would be astonished! Energy is food. Most people on earth feed on each other’s energy, all of the time, seven days a week. The more energy you have, the more interested parties there will be in having lunch. You must consider that there is opposition from other human beings and also non-physical forces that don’t want you to succeed.

Why do people want to drain your energy?  So they can party in other worlds after death, where pleasures are a thousand-fold.  It is a fast game.  Human beings are powerful and skillful. People who drain others have a certain world they want to get to when they die, and you’re their ticket! Manipulators are very evolved. Energy is food. Forget good and bad. Is the coyote bad and the rabbit good? Many souls thrive on the life force of others…you are lunch! There are primarily two ways people can drain your energy. They can get
you to want them or what they have or they can get you to fear them. In order to drain you they must get into your attention field.

It is possible to take energy from someone else. This is usually done in close, emotional sexual relationships. In sexual contact a doorway opens between people, and it is very possible for someone to be abusive at that time with energy. If one party is trusting, it is very easy during sex for the other party to format someone, to put thoughts in their mind, to jam their consciousness or attention, to lower their energy or just take power from them.

Sexual energy becomes problematic if you use to enslave someone, to demoralize them, to hurt them, to wrap them up. The way most people use sexual energy is to hook somebody, to wrap them. Some people use the sexual energy particularly during intercourse to
take personal power from each other. Love can be used to drain people. Through eye contact people send a cord out to drain you long distance. Through sexual manipulation, anyone who can make you like them can drain you. The only people who can really drain your power effectively are people you are very close to, you are open to, you love, or people you are afraid of, you fear.

If someone has something you want, they can wrap you – they can make you think that they’ve got something that you have to get from them. They’re the exclusive source. They are the only one who can make you happy. People we are emotionally open to and close to affect us more than most people realize. If you are emotionally open to people, you will find yourself experiencing the mindset of others. The people that hurt you are the ones you love because you are the most open to them.

You have no idea of how many people have control of your life.  Make lists of people you trust and love and constantly examine the people in your life. Who do you think of first in the morning?  Good manipulators do it in the dream plane. The morning practice of meditation increases the aura to ward of negative energy. Meditate before bed if you are being attacked psychically. It is a dangerous assumption to say that people who drain energy “don’t know what they are doing.” People are sophisticated aware beings. Don’t
sit around and equivocate; they’ll drain you more. Be honest! You are not going to want to admit energy loss. Someone is
making it hard for you to look. If you are dumb enough to be drained by people then you are fair game.

Some people like destroying for the hell of it; they love destroying beauty; they try to feel those people and then crack the egg. Most people, without consciously realizing it, absorb a great deal of psychic energy from the people they casually associate with, and even a
greater amount from people with whom they have strong emotional connections. People will try to block you. Some will do it just for pure hostility. But most others are just afraid of themselves. Human beings fear light and knowledge and power. There is a weird
quirky sort of think that happens with people. When you log on to the truth and you start to become it, it threatens them because they live with countless falsehoods. People project a grey energy that is very destructive to weaken you, so as to be drained, just as the snake uses position to capture its victim.

People seek to put you in an off-balance situation so they can get to you.   Psychic people, people who meditate, are more susceptible; they are more open and sensitive.  It is easier to jam them. People can insert thoughts into your mind.  This is more dangerous for
psychic people.  Use concentration exercises and read to combat this; boredom is an easy way to be drained. Fear can be used to get into your attention. Any way a person can get you to think of them, allows them to drain you. The signs of psychic draining – we call aging. The way people age is not the way people age; everyone is draining everyone. If you drain others energy a lot, you don’t want to see this because you do it yourself; but remember, it’s real easy to manipulate a manipulator.

If are in a situation with too many people in your life and you want to go into higher attention, look in the mirror. You are being blocked. Do something about it. It might be hard. Be conscious of the way people take your energy and learn how to stop
it. Accept that this goes on. Observe how you feel around other people. Don’t always talk about your life, where you live, interests -
people learn from your vibratory form and can get inside you. Plus those relationships where you know everything about each other are boring!

Be careful of someone who starts asking a lot of questions about you. Start asking a lot of questions about them. Turn it around. In our culture we are taught to be accessible and open; it signifies a good person.  In mysticism it is the opposite, people can scan you and
drain you. People hold an image of you and project that image when they feel you are changing. Disappear for a while. Break up your routines. If you suspect someone is draining you, generally you should not confront them but be nice, relax them, and then see what they are doing.

When you see someone draining you, your being naturally cuts it off. Yet many times you can be manipulated not to see. Keep some of your attention on your navel center when you are in a situation in which you feel your power is being drained. You will find that you will keep your power tighter, you won’t lose as much. At the umbilical region we actually network with people. Picture that
you are cutting those cords to everyone you know. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them; you are just cutting down on the negative energy pickup from people. How can you tell if you are draining someone?  How far have you gotten into their life?  Are they dependent upon you?  Are you thinking of them negatively?  Does your energy drop when you stop seeing them? If someone confronts you about draining them it could be a “double reverse.”  They are draining you and accuse you instead of draining them, just to throw you off.

If a spiritual being is naive to the lower aspects of the world, they usually are killed or die young.  Did Jesus really know which of the
twelve would betray him? I doubt it. You can talk to one person for five minutes and be sick afterwards. You can be totally physically drained because their aura is so low. You can talk to someone else for an hour and just feel fine. Practice mediation and concentration exercises, and begin to think more about regaining your sensitivity by avoiding draining situations. Not because of fear but because of intelligence. Our purpose in this life is to gain the view of ourselves. Otherwise, we are total slaves to others who psychically drain us, abuse us.

On the possible dangers of inversions

It makes a lot of great points about the benefits of inversion poses, but also warns of possible dangers associated with them.  The issue
doesn’t seem to be so much one of overdoing it in a particular session, but of overdoing it in the long term. As somebody who has practiced meditation for quite awhile but is new to yoga, I am finding that inversion poses are great to precede meditation.  But I am wondering about some of the possible dangers now.

Right now I do a shoulder stand for about 5 breaths, (maybe 30 seconds) and a supported  headstand for the same amount of time.  This is at the end of my routine.  I usually follow each with a child pose, then spend a few minutes in corpse pose relaxing before I head over to the “sacred space” where I practice zazen (in half lotus) for 30 minutes. The first picture on this article is a guy doing a seriously amazing, unsupported handstand.  Not sure what exact pose that is.

Which led me to an interesting idea.  The problem with headstands and shoulder stands seem to be in the neck and shoulders which are being squished under the weight of the body.  So poses that don’t apply this pressure would probably have less risks, correct?

Several other questions then:

Would you advise against shoulder stands and headstands for a beginner, or just to go easy on them? If I keep doing them, is there a good pose that might counter the negative effects – say something that would strengthen the neck or shoulders? What about a supported handstand?  (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)  Since you are using a wall and not the neck or shoulders, this should be “healthier” I think, for a beginner, so long as you have sufficient arm strength.  (I can do it for possibly 30 seconds). Another issue seems to be spinal compression.  So I’d assume that anything that helps do decompress the spine is helpful.  If I get it aright, that includes many back bends, forward bends, and side bends as well as twisting positions, which are all part of my routine.  Also, I spend some time, (I try to do a few a day) hanging from a chin-up bar. It is an exercise I learned from a non-yoga book on stretching.  You tighten all the muscles of your body, and then release.  The release of tension causes the muscles to relax and the spine decompresses.  This is repeated with a reversed grip on the bar.

What is the “holy grail” of inversion poses?  I’m assuming it would be a completely unsupported handstand as I linked to above.  I wonder how realistic it is for somebody like me to begin working towards something like that.  (The sooner the better, so long as I am patient).  It seems that it wouldn’t have a lot of the dangers except maybe spinal compression.
