MEDITATION BEATS HOLIDAY STRESS

yoga123

Here are basic meditation tips to help you relax: Pick a word, short phrase or prayer that is firmly rooted in your belief system that will help you focus. Try words like “peace,” “one” or a religious word or phrase. Sit quietly in a comfortable position. Some prefer yoga positions as practiced in the East. Others prefer a more Western stance: Sit in a chair where your spine is straight and your feet are comfortably flat on the floor. Hands should face upward on your lap. Close or lower your eyes. Breathe slowly. Exhale through your mouth and inhale through your nose. Other thoughts may cross your mind, but it doesn’t mean your session needs to end. Say to yourself “later” and return to your breathing and/or visualization.

Oh, cripes, the kids need to be picked up from soccer/basketball/French horn practice, and the post office closes at 5 p.m. Long lines at the store aren’t helping matters, and it’s going to take more than watered down eggnog to take the edge off. Maybe what you need is to just stop the world, have a comfortable seat and catch a few ohmms. That’s right. Want to feel better and maybe chase some of that negative inner dialogue away? Meditate. Two decades’ worth of research suggests meditating — be it visualization, prayer or shutting yourself off from your surroundings — can significantly reduce stress levels.

A busy lifestyle is no excuse. In fact, meditators say that’s why you need to do it. “If you take the time to meditate, you actually create more time in your life,” says Cheri Eplett owner of Indialantic’s Aquarian Dreams, which specializes in books and CDs about meditation. “You are more efficient because you’re less stressed. So meditation is a good investment of time.” Perhaps the biggest meditation motivator lies in a recent, small scientific study that suggests locating the ohhhm can make you live longer.

Last month, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital released a study showing areas of the cerebral cortex — the outer layer of the brain — were thicker in the participants who regularly meditated. The study, which appeared in a recent article in NeuroReport,
described results from 20 people who meditated regularly. These people had four regions of cortex — the part of the brain,
associated with higher functions like memory and decision making — that were thicker than in 15 subjects who didn’t meditate. In addition, researchers found signs that one area of the cortex seemed to have aged less quickly than it did in the folks who didn’t
meditate. Researchers are doing follow-up studies to see how meditation might effect behavior. Dr.Wasim Niazi, a neurologist at Wuesthoff Rockledge, says more research needs to be done to confirm meditation’s anatomical changes on the brain.

But he does agree mediation results in relaxation, which has been proven to reduce stress and help people focus better during their
waking hours — and sleep better at night. “But all modalities of meditation have something in common in that they are about disconnecting yourself from the impulses you are receiving — the noise and the worries,” Niazi says. “Consider that 100 impulses reach the brain every per second and most are subconscious.” Al Rapaport, founder of Melbourne’s Open Mind Zen Center says it’s
such impulses that “make us subject to a monkey mind,” he says. “Meditation helps us slow down that internal dialogue.”

But meditation practitioners say studies only reinforce what they already know. “We’ve known for nearly 20 years that meditation effects the physiology of brain chemistry and this (Massachusetts study) is the first one I’ve seen in which meditation directly effects the brain,” says Rapaport, who also is author of the book “Open Mind Zen: A Guide to Meditation.” “But for meditators, the laboratory is our own body and mind. We get the results through our experiences.” The Zen center specializes in group meditation, but Rapaport
encourages people to meditate at home as well. “All the techniques are designed to help focus the mind,” Rapaport says.

Eplet prefers to use visualization techniques and sit in a comfortable position, feet flat on the floor, her palms upward in a receiving position. Others prefer to focus on breathing. The goal is to practice daily — but don’t worry about being perfect at it.

“A lot of people don’t meditate because they are under the impression they must clear their mind and think of nothing for 20 minutes,” says Andrea de Michaelis, who publishes the Brevard County-based Horizons. She meditates twice a day. And she gets better at it each time, she says. “When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is make myself sit when my mind is still in that foggy place,” de Michaelis says. “Once I start the process with the breathing, the cobwebs start to clear. If a concrete thought or worry crosses my mind I can release the thought by saying the word ‘later,’ which satisfies the concrete mind that wants to hang on to something.

Don’t worry if you can’t schedule a 10 or 20 minute stop-action timeframe. “Meditating for three minutes is better than nothing,” she says. “For people with kids, it can be a matter of locking yourself in the bathroom and take a bath — and hope you won’t be interrupted more than 30 times.”

Mysticism – Psychic Self-Defense – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“You never seem to hear about psychic occult attack in spiritual literature.  This knowledge has been conveniently forgotten. Innocence does not protect you from the evil designs of others. In addition to innocence, we have to have knowledge of good and evil.People have power and it is very important to respect that. Everybody’s had thousands of lifetimes, and who knows what anyone has learned in a lifetime. Respect not fear. In the universe, there is darkness and light. We call this duality. When you seek knowledge and power, there are forces and people that will oppose you.

Not everyone is your friend. When you are psychic you tend to forget that others don’t view life the way you do. Psychic beings are childlike, delicate and easily destroyed. To not realize that everyone we think about affects us psychically, to not realize that life is a field of power, is criminal, in my opinion. If you are a sensitive and evolved being, it is simply criminal. The souls now incarnating are power souls. It is a dark age. To incarnate now one needs psychic self-defense. We have developed psychic powers in other lives. Now we have many problems because of it, many voices in the mind due to this crowded earth.

When you become empowered everyone becomes interested in you. If you just develop your psychic ability and not learn psychic
self-defense, you become more sensitive, open, and vulnerable. Avoiding things that drain you is more important than gaining energy. While it is possible to create all your own energy, most people feed off the energy of others. If you could see on multiple planes of attention you would be astonished! Energy is food. Most people on earth feed on each other’s energy, all of the time, seven days a week. The more energy you have, the more interested parties there will be in having lunch. You must consider that there is opposition from other human beings and also non-physical forces that don’t want you to succeed.

Why do people want to drain your energy?  So they can party in other worlds after death, where pleasures are a thousand-fold.  It is a fast game.  Human beings are powerful and skillful. People who drain others have a certain world they want to get to when they die, and you’re their ticket! Manipulators are very evolved. Energy is food. Forget good and bad. Is the coyote bad and the rabbit good? Many souls thrive on the life force of others…you are lunch! There are primarily two ways people can drain your energy. They can get
you to want them or what they have or they can get you to fear them. In order to drain you they must get into your attention field.

It is possible to take energy from someone else. This is usually done in close, emotional sexual relationships. In sexual contact a doorway opens between people, and it is very possible for someone to be abusive at that time with energy. If one party is trusting, it is very easy during sex for the other party to format someone, to put thoughts in their mind, to jam their consciousness or attention, to lower their energy or just take power from them.

Sexual energy becomes problematic if you use to enslave someone, to demoralize them, to hurt them, to wrap them up. The way most people use sexual energy is to hook somebody, to wrap them. Some people use the sexual energy particularly during intercourse to
take personal power from each other. Love can be used to drain people. Through eye contact people send a cord out to drain you long distance. Through sexual manipulation, anyone who can make you like them can drain you. The only people who can really drain your power effectively are people you are very close to, you are open to, you love, or people you are afraid of, you fear.

If someone has something you want, they can wrap you – they can make you think that they’ve got something that you have to get from them. They’re the exclusive source. They are the only one who can make you happy. People we are emotionally open to and close to affect us more than most people realize. If you are emotionally open to people, you will find yourself experiencing the mindset of others. The people that hurt you are the ones you love because you are the most open to them.

You have no idea of how many people have control of your life.  Make lists of people you trust and love and constantly examine the people in your life. Who do you think of first in the morning?  Good manipulators do it in the dream plane. The morning practice of meditation increases the aura to ward of negative energy. Meditate before bed if you are being attacked psychically. It is a dangerous assumption to say that people who drain energy “don’t know what they are doing.” People are sophisticated aware beings. Don’t
sit around and equivocate; they’ll drain you more. Be honest! You are not going to want to admit energy loss. Someone is
making it hard for you to look. If you are dumb enough to be drained by people then you are fair game.

Some people like destroying for the hell of it; they love destroying beauty; they try to feel those people and then crack the egg. Most people, without consciously realizing it, absorb a great deal of psychic energy from the people they casually associate with, and even a
greater amount from people with whom they have strong emotional connections. People will try to block you. Some will do it just for pure hostility. But most others are just afraid of themselves. Human beings fear light and knowledge and power. There is a weird
quirky sort of think that happens with people. When you log on to the truth and you start to become it, it threatens them because they live with countless falsehoods. People project a grey energy that is very destructive to weaken you, so as to be drained, just as the snake uses position to capture its victim.

People seek to put you in an off-balance situation so they can get to you.   Psychic people, people who meditate, are more susceptible; they are more open and sensitive.  It is easier to jam them. People can insert thoughts into your mind.  This is more dangerous for
psychic people.  Use concentration exercises and read to combat this; boredom is an easy way to be drained. Fear can be used to get into your attention. Any way a person can get you to think of them, allows them to drain you. The signs of psychic draining – we call aging. The way people age is not the way people age; everyone is draining everyone. If you drain others energy a lot, you don’t want to see this because you do it yourself; but remember, it’s real easy to manipulate a manipulator.

If are in a situation with too many people in your life and you want to go into higher attention, look in the mirror. You are being blocked. Do something about it. It might be hard. Be conscious of the way people take your energy and learn how to stop
it. Accept that this goes on. Observe how you feel around other people. Don’t always talk about your life, where you live, interests -
people learn from your vibratory form and can get inside you. Plus those relationships where you know everything about each other are boring!

Be careful of someone who starts asking a lot of questions about you. Start asking a lot of questions about them. Turn it around. In our culture we are taught to be accessible and open; it signifies a good person.  In mysticism it is the opposite, people can scan you and
drain you. People hold an image of you and project that image when they feel you are changing. Disappear for a while. Break up your routines. If you suspect someone is draining you, generally you should not confront them but be nice, relax them, and then see what they are doing.

When you see someone draining you, your being naturally cuts it off. Yet many times you can be manipulated not to see. Keep some of your attention on your navel center when you are in a situation in which you feel your power is being drained. You will find that you will keep your power tighter, you won’t lose as much. At the umbilical region we actually network with people. Picture that
you are cutting those cords to everyone you know. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them; you are just cutting down on the negative energy pickup from people. How can you tell if you are draining someone?  How far have you gotten into their life?  Are they dependent upon you?  Are you thinking of them negatively?  Does your energy drop when you stop seeing them? If someone confronts you about draining them it could be a “double reverse.”  They are draining you and accuse you instead of draining them, just to throw you off.

If a spiritual being is naive to the lower aspects of the world, they usually are killed or die young.  Did Jesus really know which of the
twelve would betray him? I doubt it. You can talk to one person for five minutes and be sick afterwards. You can be totally physically drained because their aura is so low. You can talk to someone else for an hour and just feel fine. Practice mediation and concentration exercises, and begin to think more about regaining your sensitivity by avoiding draining situations. Not because of fear but because of intelligence. Our purpose in this life is to gain the view of ourselves. Otherwise, we are total slaves to others who psychically drain us, abuse us.

Mysticism – Dreaming – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“You are not what you seem to be. You are one of God’s endless dreams in search of wakefulness. Meditation is wakefulness. Reality does appear to exist, there does appear to be birth, youth, people appear to have children. But all of it’s a dream. These are
isolated moments that are only connected by perception. There is no separation. Dreams are real. This is unreal. This world is unreal. Everybody has it backwards. This is the dream. This is an insubstantial pageant. Nothing here lasts. That is how you know it’s the dream. How do you know you’re even here right now? Perhaps you’re not. Perhaps you’re far, far away and this is just a dream.

The idea is easy to understand.  All of life is a dream. You have dreamed everything that you are and everything you are aware of. You are asleep and have forgotten that you are dreaming. You mistakenly believe you are awake. You have dreamed me into your dream to awaken you from the dreams of life, death and separativity. You certainly do have strange dreams. You must first realize that you are in a dream.  Then you must realize that your current dream is a nightmare. You need to dream nicer dreams.  I come from a world that is a much nicer dream.

We are not really separate beings of light. That’s a dream we are having, the dream of multiplicity. Meditation takes us beyond the
moment to eternal awareness. We dream forever unless we awaken. We move from one dream to another, some beautiful, some we’re the hero or the heroine, some horrible, some nonsensical, some boring. All the lives we ever lead are only dreams, these walking moments, that look so solid to you when you consider yourself awake, are just dreams. We’ve decided what we are. That’s the dream. When the dream fades, it’s not that we don’t exist. How could we not exist since we never existed?

Life is a series of dreams, a series of interlocking awarenesses. What you have known of this life so far is only a dream, a slim dream
at that. As one who has traveled greatly in the worlds, I can assure you there is much to see and much to become. There are other times. There are other adventures. There are other dreams . Who is that is dreaming all of this? Ecstasy. Pure ecstasy. Joy beyond
understanding. Bliss beyond the dry dullness of the mind’s philosophical ranging. Light beyond any light in this world. The
substance and the essence of all existence is this light, the transcendental light. The perceiver of the dream, the one whom the dream is unfolding before, is what we call the self.

The dreams of the self are manifold and endless and they exist in all the myriad worlds and conditions that appear to have solidity. The ten thousand states of mind are hallucinatory. Hallucinations are real. Dreams are real. But there are some things more real. When we dream, we create. All of life is a dream or a series of waking dreams. We dream our surroundings.  We dream our friends, our relations. We dream our bodies. We dream our dreams. I think that the world ended a long time ago and no one realizes it. We’re in a dream somewhere in a vortex of energy that just hasn’t realized its nonexistence yet.

Seriously, I think that the world is always ending and always beginning at every moment. Everybody goes into different dimensional planes. You do it every night when you dream. You are journeying into other dimensional planes. Dreams are not just functions of the cerebral cortex. Then you’re dreaming at night, something seems very real, but when you wake up the dream is gone and so is all that apparent solidity. When we wake up in the morning and we make decisions, these decisions come from the night, the night of eternity, our other side.

The Indians in the Southwestern United States went to many places of power. They were able to have profound dream experiences where they could see into the future or know what do to and make proper decisions. Will something else. Have dreams and believe in them. They don’t have to come true. They are just as true as a dream is. Life itself is a dream. Dreams are just silly things that pass through your mind at night. “Dreaming” is out-of-the-body experiences where you are traveling through the different dimensions – most of which you don’t remember. Some astral dimensions are bright and filled with ecstasy. Advanced cosmic beings live in them. But there are also very dark astral dimensions, often inhabited by beings that are filled with hate and despair.

A great deal of energy is lost in the study by people who interact with non-physical beings. They get into your mind and your body by
approaching you in the dream plane, promising you powers, playing on your desires. They sap your life force. Entities can see a certain amount because they are outside of the physical dimensional plane. They might see that you are going to meet a beautiful woman or a beautiful man. They will come to you in dreams and tell you this is going to happen because of them.

Who do you think of first in the morning?  Good manipulators do it in the dream plane. The morning practice of meditation increases the aura to ward of negative energy. Where you live is important. It is where you dream. You lose or gain a tremendous amount of energy there. In dream yoga we use the etheric double and go beyond the confines of the physical, it’s very ecstatic. You can move in and through the astral worlds once you have gained control of your subtle body.  The astral worlds are the back corridors of eternity!

The astral dimensions afford you opportunities to have experiences and gain insights into the structural nature of how dimensions are made up and phased together.”

Mysticism – Balance – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“Pure and simple, balance is happiness. Spiritual balance is to be straight with yourself. Only a pure heart, a completely pure heart can house eternity. Most people lead their lives like they drive their cars. There is always going to be pain. There is always going to be pleasure. But what is not always going to be there is balance, happiness. That is a personal decision. In order to effectively interlock with higher spheres of mind and attention, you must have tremendous balance and control. You learn that it is more fun to have control than not to.

Have the right attitude in advanced practice. Feel that you are always a beginner in Zen. They refer to it as “beginners mind”. I feel I am a beginner, always, because it’s true. In martial arts one of the first things that you learn is to be balanced. Balance is the central principle in architecture and design. Balance is a way of trying to talk about being at the center of things. Balance is the ability to be happy in the midst of the most chaotic or even boring or transient circumstance.

Keep your sense of humor. Stay funny. A person with power has control of their emotions. A person with power can stop fear, stop depression, or they can augment a positive emotion. Laughing at fear is one of the best things you can do. When you are afraid, instead of just plunging into panic, laugh. The fear gets really uptight and leaves. To love is to be balanced, to extend one’s self beyond the sense of self. A balanced person will get depressed, discouraged, frustrated and angry sometimes, but doesn’t direct it towards anybody else. If they do, they quickly realize they made a mistake. There is something beyond power. The totality of one’s being. Some call it nirvana. We have a higher destiny. Before you can scratch the surface, you have to bring your life into order.

Sometimes we have to be hard on ourselves. We’ve got to get on our case, if we are being sloppy, lazy, and indulgent. If suddenly you get depressed, it doesn’t have to throw you. You can push those emotions aside. You can cultivate happy emotions or become
emotionless when you need to be very sensitive. There’s no point in getting frustrated at yourself. Just be truthful. Sometimes in life, we have to go backward a certain distance in order to go forwards.  If we have conflicts within ourselves that we have not resolved, then we will find ourselves living inside of these conflicts, not in the realms of light. If you are doing that which is within you, what that part of you that is beyond body would like you to do, then you would not experience stress because you would be very fulfilled.

It is only hard work that brings about results, doing things for others. Forget about your problems. Take responsibility for your life
and make it into something beautiful in the midst of changing circumstances. Balance is the most important of all qualities. We don’t want a little bit of rapid growth and then to stagnate. We want continual growth, continual development, which implies balance, always. Spiritual balance is the principle that allows the mind to be still. You cannot expect the world to settle down, everything to work out, in order for you to be happy. You have to get control of your mind. Spiritual balance is the ability to remain happy, to not be hostile to your neighbor when they are being hostile, and not to get caught upon the trivia.

Learn that happiness comes through self-control and not being angry or jealous. The only one that you really torment is yourself. It is easier to let go and gain new ways of looking at life. Spiritual balance is how you deal with opposition, outside of yourself and within. Go through the things that life gives you to go through, happily. You have to loosen the grip of time, gradually. Spiritual balance is tai chi. It is the center of things. It is the place where yin and yang meet. In the chakras, it is considered the heart chakra, anahata. I am humility, nothing more and nothing less. I am one blade of grass in a sea of grass. I am one wave in an endless ocean of waves. I am one
glowing star in a galaxy of stars. Spiritual balance is the ability to be happy in spite of circumstances

What is essential is to draw the energy of love from your heart and bring it into your mind, as San Exubere said: “it is only with the
heart that one sees rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” Never think too much of yourself. Realize you are only an instrument of eternity. Do not get stuck in that terrible trap. You can lose everything. Don’t become a spiritual bigot. Don’t feel that just because you meditate and you are striving for enlightenment that you are in any way superior to any other person. Be even. Be easy. You will last longer on the pathway to self-discovery. You can get stuck in being wise. You can get stuck in having a
developed will. It is very hard to get stuck in being happy. It is too lucid a state of mind.

Sit down and get out a piece of paper and start making lists. Ask yourself, are you in harmony with the things in your life? Are you
adopting superficial values? Are you giving your being enough room? Are you doing new and creative things? A great deal of humility is necessary in the process of self-discovery. Humility is the ability to accept what and who you are at this moment. Advance yourself by advancing others. Do not judge others. Be of service to them, but realize that you are not necessarily the instrument of perfecting and immortalizing others.

Meditate. Inspire others. Spend time by yourself. Manage your career properly. Work at something constructive, that doesn’t injure others, and put your full attention into it. Whenever you take the time to inspire someone, to aid them in their inner search, you’ll find energy will come back to you – unless you are ego tripping or you are trying to manipulate them. The action of giving is in a certain vibratory level, meaning giving exists in a certain plane of consciousness. You can do anything. You can perform miracles, but it won’t fulfill you. What will fulfill you is the stillness of eternity. There’s a power that brings us to things, and there’s a power that lets us move away from things, from people, places, experiences. And what you learn to do in metaphysics is accept. It is only hard work that brings about results, doing things for others. Forget about your problems. Take responsibility for your life and make it into something beautiful in the midst of changing circumstances.

Find a teacher and devote yourself to the study, but in a balanced way, not a fanatical way. It is best to study from a teacher of ANY subject, as long as you focus on the teachings and NOT on the teacher. All of the real important answers to life’s questions lie within your own mind. You need a job. You need a career. You need a focus. Otherwise, you will just pick up lots of strange psychic energy because you are not focused. The human life form vibrates at a certain rate, but all vibratory rates are not suitable for human life. So it’s very necessary to meditate on higher octave energy, on the clear light, on joy, on happiness. Throughout the day remind yourself that you are moving through eternity. Be focused. Be centered. Be in the now. Know what is going on in the world. Read a newspaper once in a while.

It is my experience that people who don’t participate in society, who don’t have jobs, who don’t have friends, are just very stuck in
irresponsibility and cultism and all kinds of nonsense. The danger to power is obsession – power junkies. You need a very strong mind and humor to balance yourself. If you don’t, you will get shredded. Some people just chase the glittery stuff and they have no substance to their life whatsoever. Actually all they really want is power. But they pretend they’re interested in enlightenment. Certain drugs provide brief excursions into altered states of consciousness. The problem is that the perceptions and understandings that come from these experiences don’t tend to last. Power plants break up the way you see the world; they can push you into the second attention; yet to continuously take them, weakens the subtle psychical body.

A lot of people trash their subtle physical body with psychedelic drugs. While they do certainly give you experiences in altered levels
of attention, you pay a price for it. They definitely screw up the subtle physical. Hatha Yoga can be good for that. Look for the things in your life that bring you stillness and happiness, not the things that make you crazy. Look inside yourself and look for that perfect stillness. You can detach your attention from yourself and go anywhere. You can wander the universe. Big deal! To go within doesn’t mean to become enraptured with who you are, or to become enraptured with ideas of who you are.

The sign of an advanced spiritual person is that they don’t think they’re an advanced spiritual person until after liberation. In advanced practice there is a sense of commitment to the study. It is happy; it’s never forced. It is a natural evolutionary process of an evolved being. You don’t force change; you just open yourself to its possibilities and let it work through you. It is possible to exert a power over all things, all beings. But we must begin with intent always. Trust that life is guiding you and showing you every step that is
necessary to learn to be perfect. Have faith in yourself. You’ll come through OK. Have faith in existence.

Intensification of the light is going on now

Yoga-90x90

An intensification of the light is going on all the time, and this increase in intensity began on the earth at about the time when man
discovered the uses of electricity, which discovery was a direct result of this intensification. The electrification of the planet through the widespread use of electricity is one of the things which is inaugurating the new age, and which will aid in bringing about the
revelation of the presence of the soul. Before long this intensification will become so great that it will materially assist in the rending of the veil which separates the astral plane from the physical plane; the dividing etheric web will shortly be dissipated, and this will permit a more rapid inflow of the third aspect of light. The light from the astral plane (a starry radiance) and the light of the planet itself will be more closely blended, and the result upon humanity and upon the three other kingdoms in nature cannot be over-emphasized. It will, for one thing, profoundly affect the human eye and make the present sporadic etheric vision a universal asset. It will bring within the radius of our range of contact the infrared and ultraviolet gamut of colors, and we shall see what at present is hidden. All
this will tend to destroy the platform upon which the materialists stand, and to pave the way, first, for the admission of the soul as a sound hypothesis, and secondly, for the demonstration of its existence. We only need more light, in the esoteric sense, in order to see the soul, and that light will shortly be available and we shall understand the meaning of the words, “And in Thy light shall we see light.” This intensification of the light will continue until A.D. 2025, when there will come a cycle of relative stability and of steady shining without much augmentation.

God – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

sarah-harding-and-yoga-popover

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“The more I say about God, the less you’ll know about God. God is limitless awareness. There, now I have told you everything I
know about God. A lot of good it did you. God is Godless. God is an idea that we have, another construct, a prop, which doesn’t suggest that God doesn’t exist.  God is existence. But your idea of God and existence are two different things at the moment. The stillness of God is perfect. Nothing has to be added to it. Nothing can be taken away. Only a humble person can come to know God because the humble person can recognize that there is something more powerful, more complete and more perfect than they are.

The reason you don’t get to know God is because you’re afraid. You’re afraid of the immensity. The ecstasy and completion of absorption in God is so fantastic that you can’t possibly have lost anything because all the things you’ve always loved and always experienced came forth from there and exist there and are always there. God is within your mind. God is within all things. As a matter of fact, there is nothing that is not God. Everything is God. Everything is light. It is only when we live in illusions, when there are shadows in our mind that we are afraid. All the eyes of God are looking through all the stars, or looking at the stars through our eyes. There’s only the eye of God everywhere, seeing and being in perfection always.

We forget about the space between the stars, the pure and perfect space that’s also the eye of God. To penetrate the mystery is to become the mystery; to penetrate infinity is to become infinity; to penetrate light is to become light. We walk upon the grace of god. Nothing else exists except that. Life is an endless experience of God’s. God doesn’t even exist in nirvana, yet God exists in all other realms. Life is light and consciousness. Beyond this world and other worlds, beyond time and space and dimension, beyond what we call duality, is God

It’s only with that absolute humility and purity that you can make friends with God because otherwise you’re just too busy with all your desires. If you hate yourself and your desires, well, you know, God is your desires and God is your self. As long as you hate God, you’ll never realize God. You’re looking through the kaleidoscope of God and seeing God’s face in so many ways, as friends, as strangers, passersby, country roads, jammed freeways, the cancer ward, the maternity ward — all the faces of God surround you at all times. Heaven is a state of awareness. Hell is a state of awareness. We use the word “God” as representative of that which is timeless,
immortal and infinite, that which produces order, which holds together the nucleus of an atom, which gives us life and death, neither
masculine nor feminine, not a person, beyond any comprehension.

To become conscious of God, to become God’s consciousness, to become God, to be God and to be beyond God, God being beyond God, God having an existence separate from the creation, to be that, to merge with that, to lose one’s self and find one’s self endlessly again and again in that is self-realization. Enlightenment, nirvana, God, truth, call it what you will – there is no activity other than the eternal activities of the universe, perfect being, the awareness of all suchness and knowledge. God is not a person. God does not have a history. God does not have a future. God is beyond definition. We can say that your perception of this world is God.

You’re not a person. We take that form. We’re an essence. We’re an awareness of God’s. We’re made up of countless, countless realities. What does God really look like stripped naked? That’s the province of enlightenment…the formless, perfect face of existence. You are god. To be conscious of that not just from the point of view of the human form, to be endless and beginning-less perfect being, is to be enlightened. Most people’s Gods are self-reflective. God just has to be like you. You get concerned, so you assume God must get concerned. You get pissed off, so you assume God must get pissed off. You’re attached to things that you create, so you assume that God would be. To think that God is compassionate is a terrible mistake. To think that God is wrathful is equally stupid. God isn’t emotional. You are. To superimpose your emotions on infinity is typically human. Some people think God should in some way come to you and assist you, should answer your prayers. Why? It exists in perfect ecstasy beyond the dualistic consciousness. It’s totally oblivious to you. It has no interest in your life or your death, it doesn’t matter.

It is up to you to avail yourself to knowledge. Knowledge doesn’t need you. The idea of a compassionate God was formulated, obviously, by someone who didn’t want to do any work. Moses goes to the top of the mountain and he comes back glowing, transformed. He became the vision. In order to understand God, you have to learn to listen. You’re thoughts talk very loudly all the time. But God is very, very, very quiet. God doesn’t speak through words or thoughts. God doesn’t speak. God is silent. How can you give something to someone who has everything? If you think men are tough to shop for at Christmas, try God. God has everything
except one thing, friends. God doesn’t have friends. The one thing you can give God that will truly impress God is friendship. God is an eternal companion who is with you all the time. Never Judges. Just is.

It’s amazing to me how many people who profess to be spiritual seekers are self-seekers, and how few of them ever consider God. To just burn out, to give up just because things don’t go your way, to assume that there is no God, no infinite light, I mean, I think that’s
pretty petty, personally. Some people say: “There is no God because if there was a God, God would stop all the suffering.” Nonsense! God is oblivious to suffering. God is beyond suffering. That’s what makes God, God, by definition. >From age to age an enlightened person comes along, one who has made

friends with God. They’re usually forgotten or scorned. If you can’t make friends with God, make friends with someone is friends and maybe you’ll get invited to the party. The eye of God is inside us. It’s looking through us and it sees whatever we look at. Sometimes I think we could give God better things to look at, don’t you?”

Ancient Atlantis and Egypt – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“Long before the advent of what scientists and scholars consider to be the beginning of human  civilization, there was an age undreamed of…the age of Atlantis. Almost all the people who lived in Atlantis meditated and had powerful psychic skills. During the age Atlantis, there were only several hundred thousand people living on our planet. They  lived in a sublime state of harmony with nature. At that time, because of the purity of the earth’s  aura, it was much easier to meditate. During the age of Atlantis, the low population density and the resulting purity of the earth’s  aura, made conditions ideal for discovering secret meditation techniques.

During the Atlantean Cycle, the earth’s aura, the invisible astral energy field that surrounds and  protects our planet and through which all psychic perception flows, was very pure The high-priests and priestesses of Atlantis had discovered many of the deepest secrets of the  universe. They had come to understand all about reincarnation, karma, and the innermost workings of  the Enlightenment Cycle.

Rae Chorze Fwaz was a mystery school. A mystery school is an occult order comprised of people who  study meditation, enlightenment and psychic and occult arts. During the time of Atlantis, members of the Mystery Schools discovered and developed specific  concentration exercises that they found would radically increase and sharpen their innate psychic  abilities. In Atlantis, children who were spiritually evolved from meditative practices in their previous  lives were brought to the Mystery School for training by older members of the Order who psychically  recognized them.

The high priests and priestesses taught the children the secret meditation techniques, along with  methods and ways of living that would increase their pranic levels and help them develop their  psychic skills. The members of the Atlantean Mystery School were the earliest human explorers of the frontiers of  inner space. Through their meditative journeys and explorations, they discovered many secret astral passageways that led to an infinite variety of other worlds and dimensions.

Atlantis was a highly evolved civilization where the sciences and arts were far more advanced than  one might guess. Atlantis was
technologically advanced in genetic engineering, computer science, inter-dimensional physics, and artistically developed with electronic music and crystal art forms. The old Altantean sciences from the tribe of enlightenment, of which there are only a few remnants  and chards left in this world, were medicine, law, computers, and the performing arts. Altantean medicine was evolved to heal, since healing is oneness.

In the Altantean civilization, law existed to create order, that is to say, to see justice was  done. In the old way, the law was equal for
all. Not the strong win and the weak lose. Who do you suppose invented computers? Speaking in terms relevant to you, in terms of earth  history, let alone other worldly history, the computer, of course, came from Atlantis. The computers in Atlantis were infinitely evolved as opposed to what we see today.  The science,  the technology, everything was really done with light. All processing was done with light, with  crystal formations and structures.  Electricity is much too slow. Why do you suppose that in the last 100 years technology has evolved a thousand times further than  it has in the last 3,000 years? It’s the level of souls that are incarnating; the older Altantean  souls are coming back. They have a natural affinity for communication, electronics, medicine, law  and media.

We live in an age that’s repeating itself endlessly. We’re getting closer again to the techno-chic  world we saw in Atlantis that occurs
in countless planes. It’s indigenous to enlightenment. There were many stages to the Atlantean civilization. During the later stages, scientists became  involved with advanced particle physics. In particular they were interested in reverse gravity  fields. Their experiments caused them to destabilize the structure of the continent and thus Atlantis sank  beneath the waves. Atlantis was destroyed by the greed of its inhabitants. In their meditations, the high priests and priestesses of Atlantis had been that the Atlantean  civilization was going to end cataclysmically.

They wanted to preserve and protect the mystical knowledge gained from their meditation practices  and pass it on to future civilizations they clairvoyantly saw were going to be born after the  destruction of Atlantis The members of the Mystery school, during the time of Atlantis, had psychically seen the subsequent  ages of darkness. The vibratory toxicity of these subsequent ages would make it impossible for reincarnating members  of the Order to go deeply enough into their other memories, without the secret techniques first. The night before Atlantis sank beneath the waves forever, the members of the MysterySchool set sail  from their doomed continent in twelve boats, headed for twelve different points on the globe. It was their intention to start twelve new civilizations similar to Atlantis in these locations.

Unfortunately, half the boats were lost in a great storm at sea, and many members of the six boats  that did make it to their destinations safely, were later killed by the very native people to whom  they sought to transmit their knowledge of the Atlantean sciences, arts and metaphysics. The only group of Atlanteans that was truly successful in transplanting their knowledge to a new  location was the group that landed in what is now Egypt. By the time the Egyptian civilization had begun to flourish, the earth’s aura had already become so  dense it was impossible to discover the secret meditation techniques.

To the great pharaohs it mattered a great deal to bury their treasures in the pyramids, which they  thought they would bring to the other worlds. But obviously it doesn’t matter to them now. They  went, the goods stayed. Isis, the Egyptian goddess of renewal is symbolized for the Hindus by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.  Brahma is the creator, Vishnu the sustainer, and Shiva the transformer or destroyer – the Cycle of  creation. The mystery school continued throughout the greater Egyptian civilization, which was the second age  of humankind and later on into the third age of humankind when the Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan high cultures flourished

Rae Chorze-Fwaz has preserved and passed on their secret meditation techniques in oral tradition  from the time of Atlantis until he
present day. Members of the Rae Chorze-Fwaz order trace their origins back through Tibet, Japan, China, India,  and ancient Egypt to the place the order was founded, the lost continent of Atlantis. The people to become enlightened in Atlantis lit the “flame of
enlightenment” on earth for the  first time. The members of the various mystery schools have kept the flame alive by passing on the  secret techniques for attaining enlightenment from the time of Atlantis to our present day.

The world has always been this way. I am sure in the mystery world of Egypt, ancient Atlantis, you  pick a cosmos – There is always somebody on your case. God, Atlantis was only yesterday. Let alone Los Angeles. Remember that incarnation in Los Angeles? You see, Buddhists are optimists. We never saw sunsets in Atlantis like we do now. We didn’t have  those great chemicals in the air.”

Refuting “commonsense” on love and experience

I address two “common-sensical” falsehoods – first about experience, second about love – and show them to be wrong. First there is the “commonsensical” idea that loving oneself must precede being loved by another. This likewise falls apart under scrutiny. The person who has high standards for himself or herself finds it harder to love himself or herself than does someone whose standards for self are low; however it is by having such standards and meeting them at least part-way that makes one lovable to the next person. Thus, the same quality that makes it harder to love oneself – high standards – also makes one more lovable to the next person. And the “commonsense” on this subject stands refuted.

Second is the idea that one has to have one’s life in order before he can do anything good for anyone else. In fact, a person with the
highest variety of emotional states is going to find it hardest to have a stable existence (if he were even to want such a thing as a stable
existence) – but, because of the variety of emotional states that he experiences, he has the most wisdom to offer others. Because he or she experiences a wide range of emotional states, he or she has the most experience with different feelings that people may experience and with the resulting outcomes. Whereas a person with stable emotional makeup will find a stable life easier to come by, but will be far less knowledgeable of people’s feelings and will have little worthwhile ideas to offer. Furthermore, along with the experience of different emotional states, it is through experience of different ways of living that one also gains wisdom; and these likewise correlate negatively with stable existence. This refutes the commonsense on this subject. The same quality that leads to instability and hardship in one’s own life leads likewise to wisdom that one can impart others. Thus a Coleridge or a Byron or a Blake has more of wisdom to offer than does someone whose life is predictable; and the person who has much of value to say is frequently the person whose own life is disheveled. I love refuting “common sense” in all its manifestations. The monkey brain is both stupid and cruel, and in fighting it I stand up for all whom it destroys.

Who Was Rama? – Rama the Person – Quotations by Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz

Zen Master Rama, Dr. Frederick Lenz:

“I live in the constant newness of aspiration. Whatever I think, I ignore. Whatever I feel, I don’t trust. Yet I listen to my thoughts and
follow my feelings.I think I’m on an angle. I’m on an oblique angle through all of existence. In my very early childhood, when I was only 3 or 4 or 5, I would enter for many hours into meditative states in which the world would become light and energy and I would transcend the boundaries of the senses. I was sitting outside in our backyard on a summer day, I was around six, and suddenly the whole world dissolved before my eyes and I found myself in a timeless world of light.

Several hours later, I heard my mother calling me to come into the house, and it never occurred to me that this was an experience that
other children didn’t have on a regular basis. When I was quite young they sent me to Catholic school. The nuns taught me that the best thing you can do in life when things get difficult is to work. Originally, I was interested in athletic pursuits like snowboarding, martial arts and surfing. When I went to the Himalayas and met a number of Buddhist monks I was introduced to a new way of looking at life.I started to meditate formally at about 18. I would sit on a mountaintop in Southern California around twilight and focus on my third eye. Everything would become still and rings of light would appear, and I’d go through them. I would be beyond time and space. I was initiated as a Buddhist monk at the age of 19, but I think that initiation is simply a starting point.

I first went into samadhi when I was 19. I was meditating in the mountains and had been meditating on a daily basis for several years.
Suddenly there was no time or space or life or death or myself or the Universe. I was absorbed in light. I began to go into samadhi, not just occasionally, but every day many times a day until I reached a point where I could no longer distinguish between ordinary and non ordinary reality. For me it is all the same. I am in a state of continuous absorption in the Self. My travels to the Far East occurred primarily during the 1960′s. Naturally, I have returned many times since. Of course, there was concern from my family that I was traveling to far distant lands to accomplish snowboarding activities that no one had tried yet. Most people who have been enlightened in previous incarnations normally begin to regain their past-life enlightenment around the age of twenty-nine, when their astrological Saturn return takes place.

From the Far Eastern perspective, 29 is considered a very special age. Astrologically, at that age, you experience a Saturn return. It is
considered an auspicious time to “reboot” your life. It’s a chance to have a clean start and move forward into something very exciting. One day I was meditating on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Southern California and I was absorbed in a state of high meditation. As I came out of the meditation and became aware of the sense world the world around me I knew that I had a new name. And the name, of course, was Rama.

Rama is a fairly common name in India. It symbolizes an individual who is interested both in enlightenment and martial arts. I do not claim to have any past life connection with the historical Rama. It’s just a name I liked.I too have experienced the extreme pain of living, but I have also experienced some of its remarkable ecstasy. I am the happiest person I’ve ever met.  This is what Buddhist Yoga and a healthy dose of reading the Declaration of the Independence, The Constitution and the Federalist Papers and anything else I could get my hands on has given me. My happiness is dependent upon light. Since light is endless, then I’m bound to be happy always.

I studied with a number of different teachers. But really, I’ve never studied with teachers, to be honest. The only thing that’s ever
interested me in life is eternity. Nothing else makes any sense to me.I don’t believe in anything, yet I believe emphatically in almost
everything. It all depends on what seems appropriate at the time.I can assure you that next to my bed, there is always a copy of the
Dharmapada which I read from every night.I like extreme athletics, extreme meditation and extremely beautiful women. Perhaps I’m an extreme person, or it’s simply my Karma. But I must tell you, as if you hadn’t read about me in a newspaper or seen me on a magazine format television show, there are extreme risks involved with all three. I am a certified PADI Divemaster and a technical scuba diver. That is to say, I am involved with decompression diving where we dive to depths of 300 plus feet. But I was also recently certified for the Atlantis I rebreather, where we dive to shallower depths ranging from about 60-130 feet.

I dive all over the world: Fiji, Australia, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and many other places. When I dive, I dive into a different dimensional plane. I am not in this world anymore. Someone might see the body, but the spirit has left. It has gone everywhere or nowhere.I go snowboarding and scuba diving to get to places of power where I can more correctly perceive the still center of my own mind. I also
find that extreme athletics helps to clarify your mind.Interestingly enough after diving to 235 feet in Saba, I visited the Virgin Islands. There, as a pure Karmic coincidence, I met the inventor of the snowboard, Steve Sanders, Mr. Burton’s brother.

Master Fwap, who told me that snowboarding, or any activity could be improved by the practice of meditation. Since I had had previously some training in Korean martial arts, I was somewhat open to the idea.Love can be the only answer. But snowboarding also works for me. Because I love snowboarding! When I began to play Frisbee, I would play with my friends and we used to do difficult things. We would stand in front of lines of trees that were parallel. We would spend hours throwing frisbees back and forth
between these tight spots. Everybody deals with stress differently. Some people drink, some people use drugs, some people watch TV. I have always found that extreme athletics chills me out and leaves me in a very centered place. When I play sports, when I dance, when I teach mysticism, I cannot explain, even to myself, how I do what I do.

I like to shop. I don’t always buy things when I shop, but I think it’s fun to go out and look at the worlds of colors. I love to roam through supermarkets. I am a great lover of household products. I particularly like the packaging of cereal boxes. I do enjoy wearing Japanese and Italian clothing. I also enjoy my blue jeans or tennis shorts and running shoes. I like driving a Porsche because it is an elegant machine and it is a very beautiful experience to drive it. It’s magnificently made. I do have a staff of what some people would consider to be very attractive, chic women. They are not on the staff because they are attractive and chic but because they care about the welfare of others. Sexuality, I think, is a little bit different, for me, than it is for  most people, in that there’s almost no body awareness whatsoever. It’s just light, but that’s how everything is for me. I like to be weird, kinky, straight, in and out, up and down. I like to blow up people’s expectations, create them, destroy them, and dissolve them. It is fun.

I believe it should be the legal right of any woman who wants to have an abortion to have one. From the spiritual point of view, I don’t see a problem with abortion in that the soul doesn’t usually take incarnation until the last month before birth, sometimes not even until the moment of birth. I’m an observer of life. I like to watch people, and I like to watch cactus, I like to talk to mountains and communicate with my friends in the other spheres and dimensions. In my travels, I have found two peoples, the Tibetans and the Fijians, who don’t seem to have this problem. Their closeness with their environment, their religions, and their relationships with each other and nature make them feel part of everything.

I have several Scottish Terriers. I find them to be the most wonderful dogs. If you’re interested in matching your mind with the most intelligent kind of beast I have ever encountered, get yourself a Scotty dog. He’ll get bored very fast, and it will require all of your personal power and intelligence to keep up with him. You might find a good friend. I have found that meditation has helped me with my academic career and has given me insights into musical composition and software design. I can play the guitar, the dulcimer, the piano, and the drums. However, I am not a “performance quality” musician. Rather, I am a composer and a producer. I am a producer of both rock and New Age music, I generally like all categories of music. In particular, I enjoy Ozzy’s stage presence. The music is used as a backdrop. I take the kundalini and I play against the notes with it. I do a light show inwardly and outwardly with the energy, with the vortexes of energy as you sit there. It’s no big deal. It’s just what I do.

Zazen’s music is composed in other dimensions and it is played by some of my students. I go through the music they have played with my aura and wash out anything impure. Miramar, my recording company has decided in March to offer a compilation of my music for snowboarding, which will have the same cover as the book does. My own musical background is based in the blues, and in classical
composition. I grew up listening to Muddy Waters, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Beethoven and Bach. I go to the movies. I absolutely love film. Some of the films that I have really enjoyed include: The Fifth Element, The Crow, Toys, Seven, Forrest Gump, The Lion King, 12 Monkeys, Doctor Zhivago, Being There, and Trainspotting. I saw “Forrest Gump” several times. I personally thought it was Tom
Hanks’ greatest role and I think it was one of the most eloquent love stories of our time. There are so many talented people in film today. There seem to be poor scripts, but the actors and actresses are very talented. There are so many to pick from that any list that I give you will be inadequate.

Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery and Robert Redford, Mel Gibson – at least in the Road Warrior films – and Harrison Ford are among my favorite actors. Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Deborah Winger, Jessica Lange, and of course, Shirley MacLaine, are among the women. Meryl Streep is expert at only using the requisite amount of energy to express her character, not an ounce too little or too much.  She’s Zen and doesn’t know she’s Zen. That’s very Zen! I think that was E.T.’s central appeal, personally. E.T. is this
metaphorical journey, this strange Odysseus from another world, who just wants to go home. Obviously, home must’ve been better!

I have found in the world of film many movies including Beyond Rangoon, The Crow, Gandhi, Doctor Zhivago, and The Big Blue, a French film, convey similar understandings. I’m sure the list is endless. These are just a few of my favorites. I have been sought out by a number of people who would have felt uncomfortable coming to a large public meditation. They don’t want people to come up and ask for autographs. There have been times when I’ve made special arrangements to meet people in music, film, business or politics, and I’ll continue to do so if the people are sincere. If they’re not sincere, then naturally I’ll turn them down. But if what they want is to gain power and use it for a higher good, I’ll help them. Then they merit some special consideration.

Powerful people affect many others and if I can in some way contribute to their awareness, they will put out better energy to millions and millions of people. if I can have an effect on influential women and men, if they seek me out because they are interested in self knowledge and the fun of meditating, then I’m glad to help. That’s why I’m here. I’m only here for a while, so I’d like to do what I can.Interestingly enough, Aurthur C. Clarke once autographed a copy of his book “Rendezvous with Rama” for me. I am a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Aren’t we all? I teach meditation to many different types of people, you mentioned celebrities. I also teach meditation to many people who are not famous, but are, in my eyes, very important.

One of my greatest personal heroes is Jerry Lopez. When you can snowboard like he surfs, you’ll be there! In writing Snowboarding to Nirvana I have intentionally written an inspirational spiritual adventure  story, which will hopefully provide people with metaphysical techniques, spiritual knowledge, hope  and a brighter view of life. I have had several offers to make the book into a film. I don’t know if
the message could be accurately transmitted, and so I have been somewhat hesitant in granting film rights.Since I have spent many years of my life living in Los Angeles, and since I’m also in the music business, I know that much more is talked about in Los Angeles than ever really occurs.

I took the liberty in Snowboarding to Nirvana to do a type of parody of what I  suppose you would call “New Age fiction.” While I am writing about the details of my own intimate encounters and journeys in America and the  Far East. I have chosen to parody the writing styles of Carlos Castaneda, James Redfield, Richard Bach, Lynn Andrews, and  several other best-selling new age authors. I enjoy the writings of all of these authors and they have been very inspirational for me. But I  think that it is important as writers of
metaphysical, New Age, occult fiction and nonfiction to not  take ourselves too seriously.

In both Surfing the Himalayas and Snowboarding to Nirvana, I have tried to transmit as best I could the spirit of humor, and the sense of humor of the monks I have encountered.I think perhaps the greatest book ever written was Ulysses by James Joyce. In one particular chapter  in Ulysses, James Joyce imitates every major writing style that’s been used by English and American writers over the last 700 years – starting with Beowulf and Chaucer and working his way up through  the Renaissance, the Victorian era and on into the 20th century. He managed to do this ‘tour de force’ of styles without ever breaking the narrative structure of the chapter he was writing. It is the most brilliant parody of writing styles that I have ever read.

Throughout the course of my life, I have been very fortunate to have had excellent teachers — not just in meditation, but in martial arts, music, scuba diving, and in my academic education. Every person I’ve known has had an effect on me, as have people whom
I’ve not met in the physical in this life, but whom I’ve met inwardly, teachers from other eras – Sri Ramana Maharshi, Sri Ramakrishna and Lao Tse. If you ever come to one of my seminars, you will notice I have volunteer workers. When I work with individuals like that, I expect a level of excellence displayed. Everything has to be done perfectly.

My particular focus at the moment is on the development of genetic algorithms and neural networks that work together to create computer architectural systems. I design genetic algorithms, neural network and artificial intelligence systems. I develop artificially intelligent technologies, along with educational and game software and let the business people take it where they will. Most of the software I sell runs on mainframes and supercomputers, and is used by multinational corporations and governments. You may not get
to see that, but if I have done it properly, hopefully it will make the events in your life transpire more smoothly.I am involved in the creation of software, and I’m also in the music business.

Whenever I work with anyone, it is an opportunity for them to become more professional and do something for someone else. My feeling is that drugs and alcohol take away from the pure experience of meditation. That does not mean that occasionally, a person couldn’t have a glass of wine or a drink. I personally, only work with people in my business who show excellence. I have a business, the business of enlightenment. I only work with professionals. I don’t mean at seminars, but in my business. I am Western and I see no need or reason to change that. The Western  lifestyle has many things to offer, as do the Eastern methods of self discovery. I think blending the two is very desirable.

I don’t think people should be primarily concerned with money or material success. They should be concerned with doing that which is right and being in harmony with the way of life. It is my experience that if a person practices self discovery with
intent, they will be successful. Success is an outer sign that they are channeling energy correctly. I believe that it is the responsibility of everyone in corporate life to help with the funding of non-profit organizations.

My favorite cause is the enlightenment of others. I think that is the best place to put money. You get the highest yield in terms of karma on your money. I can throw a great party, but I don’t know how to go to one. I can throw a party because when you throw a party you just work all the time. But I could never go to a party because I wouldn’t know what to do…I’d immediately find the kitchen and start to serve food. I am simply a human being who is fascinated by the life process. If I had my choice I’d hang out anywhere. I mean, it doesn’t matter. It’s all God, it’s all the same. There’s only nirvana for the enlightened.”

Looking for a Class Again

yogaposes

Ok, this has happened a few times now. maybe i’m a bit thick, but it’s taken me this long to realize that i need to look a little more closely at  the problem. I’m a relative newcomer to yoga (3 yrs) and I don’t come to it with a physical or spiritual background – not a jock, not on a spiritual quest. So i’m not using yoga to attain fitness or find god. I like the improved awareness of my body and I like the calm space in my life that class and home practice give me. All along what I’ve wanted is 1 or 2 classes a week for nstruction/correction and a short daily home practice for maintenance. I’ve consistently had problems finding those outside classes. I live in toronto. A city big enough to have a variety of studios and a variety of teachers within those studios.  i know to steer away from ashtanga, hot yoga, and anything else that looks like its aerobics disguised as yoga. You’d think that a basic hatha class would suit me perfectly, but i’m finding teachers are sneaking vinyasa into hatha and from there we ease into full blown aerobics paced classes. my current teacher, who was such a find – knowledgeable, open, plus a time and location perfect for me – has changed my perfect hatha class to a hatha vinyasa and is pushing me towards her restorative class. I find restorative supports my shortcomings without encouraging progress. I don’t like to use props. i think the teacher is equating “needs instruction/correction” with “unable”. I find myself leaning toward classes which are more spiritual than I want, just to ensure that they aren’t going to end up crunching my abs, repeating  3 more aaaand 2 more aaaand 1 more, feeling the heat.  I hate heat.

SO, now that this scenario (find the perfect class, have it or the teacher change/leave) has happened to me 3 times, I figure it’s more than coincidence (yeah, jered, no coincidences, I know). I must be creating this reality. so what am I learning? I’m more dependant on teachers than my home practice yoga is a business for most teachers, they teach to who ever pays their bills classes/teachers aren’t there forever, or even longterm. and how do i create something different? need to define yoga for myself so I know exactly what i’m looking for make my home practice the more meaningful practice for me
